Save Your Savings
September 6, 2010 | In: Money Savings
One of the common things you shall hear from shopaholics is “I saved money today in shopping”. I’m sure you can guess HOW exactly did they save? Apparently they decide to shop on the SALE day and so they got some nice discounts. But majority of the time what they do is, whatever money they paid less, they use that to buy more stuff.
Would you really call that saving?
No! If you were going to buy one shirt, but you got a 50% discount and so you bought 2 shirts and claimed that you saved money, then that is definitely not saving by any definition. You ended up spending all your money you wanted to, so wheres the saving? You could say that you got more stuff for the same amount of money but definitely not saving. Even if you bought only 1 shirt instead of 2 and kept the money that you paid less to the shop keeper, it would still not be called “Saving” unless you actually put that money in your savings account. But normally people end up spending that money elsewhere.
How can you benefit from such a situation?
Consider yourself lucky if you get discount on your shopping and do yourself a favour by putting that money you saved into your savings account. If you do not save your savings, then they end up getting spent somewhere and don’t really end up getting saved. You benefited nothing from that SALE discount if you don’t save your savings. The shopaholics can really save a lot of money this way and increase their savings, thus have more money to invest and increase their wealth.
