Forum owners tend to give too much importance to having a unique forum template for their forum, regardless of the fact their forum hardly has any visitors and members. Most of them think that by having a unique forum design will skyrocket the registration rates of their forum. Absolutely wrong concept. When you are just starting out, you just have to make sure that your forum design is not bad, an okayish looking template would do. Members mostly care about activity and content of the forum and ofcourse if the forum is of the niche they are looking for. Even if you have an extremely beautiful template but not enough posts or members, people are not going to register and post on your forums. So instead of looking for unique designs and wasting your money there, look for a nice free or cheaper skins and save up your money for advertising and marketing of your forum. Spend money and time in getting more visitors to your forum rather than getting a unique template designed, unless you have too much cash to spend.

I own a forum that has almost 500k posts but I am still using a free forum template. My forum members don’t care if the forum has a unique template or not. Those who want to stay will still be posting whether I get an extremely beautiful skin or not, and those who leave will still leave regardless of the fact that the forum has an extremely beautiful skin. Majority of the members love the skin I have on right now. The only reason I will get a custom skin designed when it will be time to start selling private advertising on the forums when I will be needing a skin that can accommodate most advertising without making the theme look bad.

Focus on getting more visitors to your forum, remember the fact that the more the visitors to your forum, the more the registrations on your forum and indeed more the activity. Having a beautiful template will hardly make much difference. Look for such solutions when you have built a member base already to make the members happier. Good Luck with your forum!
